Living in London and worried about climate change? Us too.

You might be wondering how you can make a difference, or feel confused about where to start – where better than in your own home? Booking an energy assessment with one of CREW Energy’s trained energy auditors can help you understand your energy use, pinpoint where you’re wasting energy, helping you save money, and make your home more efficient.

What DO WE ASSESS?

An energy audit or assessment is like a health check-up for your home’s energy use.

Here’s how it works:
  1. Initial chat: You talk to us about any energy concerns in your home, look over past energy bills, and discuss any problems you’ve noticed.
  2. We assess how you currently use energy: We check out your insulation, heating and cooling systems, lighting and appliances. Energy efficiency is our main focus, along with low-carbon technologies, which we can advise you on. You may have questions about other ways to make your home greener. We'll always try and point you in the right direction for further information, but we mostly focus on your use of gas and electricity and how to make this more efficient.
  3. We let you know our recommendations: We will talk you through your tailored report with specific actions to improve energy efficiency in your home. This includes small, cost-free changes you can implement yourself, right up to larger changes that will save you money in the long term, like upgrading your insulation, switching to energy-efficient lighting or heating systems.
  4. We support you to make the changes: We can help you prioritise and carry out the recommended actions, often providing info on available grants or funding to help you on your way.

What are the benefits?

  1. Save money
You can start saving money right away by fixing energy inefficiencies. Simple changes like switching to LED bulbs or sealing draughty windows can lower your energy bills.
  2. Feel more comfortable
Energy assessments often find issues that affect your home’s comfort levels, like poor insulation or heating problems. Fixing these can make your home more comfortable, with better temperature control and fewer draughts.
  3. Help the environment
Small changes in your energy use can add up, reducing the amount of carbon emitted in our local area, helping us move towards our net-zero goals.
  4. Boost property value
Energy efficiency is becoming a priority for homebuyers. Some improvements can boost your EPC rating and even increase your property’s value and appeal.

Just do ‘something’: simple actions with big impact

You don’t have to overhaul your home all at once. Here are some easy steps you can take:
  • Switch to LED bulbs: They use up to 90% less energy than traditional bulbs and last much longer. You could save £15 per year per lightbulb.
  • Seal gaps and cracks: Stop drafts to improve insulation and reduce heating costs. Full draught proofing will save you around £45 a year on your heating bills.
  • Install a programmable thermostat: Optimise heating and cooling schedules to avoid wasting energy when you’re not home. Turning your thermostat down by just 1 degree can save you £125 per year on your heating bill.
  • Unplug electronics: Many devices use energy even when turned off. Unplugging them can save energy.
