LED Lighting
LED lights are on average 90% more efficient than conventional bulbs, and still more efficient and more effective than conventional energy saving light bulbs. By switching all your bulbs over to LEDs you can save 90% on your lighting bills and greatly reduce your energy demand.
LEDs are a low cost, easily installed measure that can make a big impact quickly. Replacing your lighting can also have benefits from improved lighting of your buidling, leading to improvements in wellbeing.
Lights are sourced directly from LED suppliers, you will hold the warranty on the bulbs, and we have a trsuted electrician who will do all necessary installation including replacing light fittings as required.
We have installed LEDs at the Doddington and Rolo Community Association and Devas Club, helping them save significantly on their bills.

COOLNOMIX
Making your refrigeration and air conditioning systems more efficient
Coolnomix is a control technology for vapour compression cooling systems. The system is suitable for AC and refrigeration that retrofits to your existing assets (e.g. fridge), reducing energy usage and improving temperature control. Typically energy savings of 20% can be expected, installation takes less than an hour, there is zero maintenance and a five year product guarantee.

Hydromx Heat Transfer Fluid
Making heating/cooling systems more efficient
Hydromx is perfect for your radiator or air conditioning systems in your home/business. A revolutionary fluid that uses nano-particles suspended in a stable state, it increases the speed of heat transfer in the water in your system (e.g. the water in your radiators), reaching required temperatures faster, significantly reducing the energy required.
Forest Green Rovers trialled Hydromx at their football ground and saved 30% on their heating energy demand.

Solar Panels
Solar panels used to be a very quick win for both home owners and community groups alike (including schools, leisure centres etc…). Community energy groups such as CREW would help fund the up-front costs, and then you could pay back the costs through the savings in energy bills/income from selling excess energy back into the grid. Unfortunately, since consecutive cuts to the Feed in Tariff (FiT) which guaranteed a higher price for solar panel owners to sell excess energy back to the grid, it’s become harder for solar panels to pay themselves off.
However, all is not lost if you’re a community group/local business – we will do an energy assessment to work out the potential for a profitable/cost neutral solar power system. The bigger your roof, the greater energy generating capacity you will have, and the more likely it is for us to identify a cost-effective solution. We will never advise you to opt for a solar system if it is not cost effective for you. We will then help finance the installation and you can pay us back through the savings on your bills.

Heat pumps
Heat pumps are the environmental solution to gas flue and boiler emissions. They use electricity to heat your home but in a much more efficient manner than traditional storage heaters. Heat pumps are 325-400% efficient. This means that they emit up to 4 times fewer emissions than gas or storage heaters and they are cheaper to run.
There are two types of heat pumps available:
Air source heat pumps*
Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) absorb heat from the outside air to heat your home and hot water. They can still extract heat when air temperatures are as low as -15°C.
Heat from the air is absorbed at low temperature into a fluid. This fluid passes through a compressor, increasing the temperature, and transfers that higher temperature heat to the heating and hot water circuits of the house.
Ground-source heat pumps**
If you have large garden space outside, you could consider a ground source heat pump (GSHP). GSHPs use pipes that are buried in the garden to extract heat from the ground. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor or warm air heating systems and hot water in your home. A GSHP circulates a mixture of water and antifreeze around a loop of pipe, called a ground loop, which is buried in your garden. Heat from the ground is absorbed into the fluid and then passes through a heat exchanger into the heat pump.
Savings and subsidies
Until April 2021, there are large Government subsidies available to encourage the uptake of heat pumps - the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). Householders, communities and businesses can earn up to £12,500 in subsidies over seven years to finance their heat pump install. Heat pumps cost between £11-16k to install, depending on the complexity, product and size of the home. Energy savings will depend on your current heating type and energy tariff. Heat pumps should be around a third of the cost to run of storage heaters and will save up to 20% compared to gas.
