This month, we co-hosted our first monthly Web Chat with Merton-based charity Sustainable Merton

Over 20 people attended the short 45-minute discussion on 'Greening your home for less' where we tested their energy knowledge and discussed ways to reduce our energy bills and carbon footprint. The best place to start is by testing how well you know your home's energy performance so you can start improving it! Here are a few tips that might surprise you... 

Did you know...?

• Around 26% of a UK citizen's carbon emissions come from household energy use
• 35% of the heat in our homes is lost through the walls, compared to just 10% through windows and 25% through the roof
• 25% of the UK's power usage is on entertainment (TV, computers, DVD players, games consoles), closely followed by heating at 19%
